Bobby Mack, a beloved North Texas guitarist who helped shape the Austin Blues genre, passed away on March 22, 2023, at the age of 78.

Known for his masterful slide guitar playing and soulful vocals, Mack played alongside legendary musicians such as Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Johnny Winter. He helped establish the distinctive sound that came to define the Austin Blues scene in the 1970s and 1980s.

Born Bobby Mack Griffin in 1944 in Bonham, Texas, Mack developed a passion for music at a young age. He began playing guitar as a teenager and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent. In the late 1960s, he moved to Austin, where he immersed himself in the city's burgeoning music scene.

Throughout his career, Mack released several critically acclaimed albums and toured extensively. His music was characterized by its raw energy, passionate vocals, and intricate guitar work. He often collaborated with fellow blues musicians, including W.C. Clark, Rocky Hill, and Angela Strehli.
